Meet Serenity’s youngest crew member River Tam. River is a traumatized seventeen year old prodigy who speaks several languages. And everything from Theoretical Physics to Dance comes as easily to her as breathing does to other people. River is a sweet girl when lucid but when she is having a bout of psychosis she can do any number of things. River’s behaviors are sometimes almost childlike because she can’t filter out anything. She has temper tantrums and she does scream and throw things. She is overall a nice enough person and gets along well with others.

River will make friends with anyone and everyone when she is lucid. But when she isn’t she mostly relies on people like Simon and the crew of Serenity. She will befriend anyone but to let you into her family circle takes a lot. River doesn’t trust anyone with everything as easily as she did before but she would still have plenty of friends

River has never had lovers so this shouldn’t have too many people but if you want to do a lovers thing we’ll work something out for them.

This is simple enough you like the alliance you are probably her enemy. She is terrified of some of the Alliance people. And obviously anyone who is an enemy of Serenity’s and tries to hurt the ship or the crew are River’s enemies as well.

RIVERRRRRRRR<3! Okay, well, that's how Rabid feels, that's not how Dom feels xD Okay, so, Dom is currently hunting River and her brother for their bounty, so I'm just gonna assume they'd be enemies. He's undercover and everything, but I don't know how soon these two'd actually meet -- just that he's looking for her, one of the many. I plan on having him go through development, though, so I don't know exactly what he'll be like when they meet.

I realize this post is a jumble of confusing, and I'm sorry about that |D' For now, I think Dom and River would be enemies, considering the whole, y'know, bounty hunter undercover fed thing. x3

oh no doubt on that River would be his enemy and terrified of him. Even if the rest of the crew would for whatever reason trust him. River wouldn't she'd avoid him as much as humanly possible.

Okay. Ehm, I don't know where to start. I may have thought about this a little bit too much. I think it'd be complicated, to start with. She's crew and he cares for her, wishes to help her, but he's also acutely aware of the danger she poses to him, his crew and his ship, as well as having a pretty unique view of her broken-ness: he's pretty broken himself after all. They'd probably unconsciously bond over that, even when they don't talk about it. I'd personally love it if she says something cryptic and comforting out of the blue at some point if he thinks about something war-like and gruesome. But well xD He'd try to avoid her if he's gloomy, I think, not wanting her to possibly-maybe pick up on those memories?

I also think he'd be the one to best see her for all that she is - innocent young girl, tortured subject and dangerous warrior. With that in mind he'd also probably give her the most opportunities/shelter her less. Anyway, no plotting ideas, just giving my pov on what they are to each other. He'd call her mei-mei too, I think. She'd probably be like a little sister to him (also, can you imagine her bringing a boy back to the ship and having to pass not only Simon's judgement, but also that of Mal & Zoe? xD - at least you'll know it's true love if he comes back xD)

Haha I love this River and Mal do have a complicated relationship. Mal finds her pleasant enough when she is having a good day. He doesn't seem to think much is wrong with her other than that the Alliance broke her. He is definitely one of the people with the clearest perspectives about River. He sees her for what she is an innocent young girl, tortured subject and dangerous warrior but I think he also sees her potential. He sees that she is of use to him and that she isn't going to remain a child forever. River knows that Mal isn't trying to shelter her it's why she doesn't mind him taking her on jobs because River has perspective he knows that they don't. And River is definitely someone who is able to pick up on things. River owuld say something cryptically comforting without them knowing about it.

But Mal tends to understand her in ways that he doesn't always know himself anymore because she can't filter his head out of hers. It's only when she is surrounded by dead people can seh even try to sort her own emotions and that we don't like seeing. But River likes Mal as her family. And Definitely on the boy thing haha because if someone comes back after being subjected to Mal, Zoe, and Simon he's a keeper. River loves her captain as a father figure and a friend.

I was thinking that maybe it'd be fun to get a bit of a group thread at some point - wherein someone mistakes them for a couple rather than partners-in-crime? Perhaps they're lingering in a bar to meet with clients or scoping out a place or whatever it is, but they'll both be horrified by it xD Mal will, anyway. After some thoughts. Which, OK, not suitable for impressionable and insane young minds xD They'd make amazing partners in crime. Also, I'm thinking he should already be training her a little to fly Serenity?

lol River would probably see it coming and make a face long before it was said but let Mal hear it too haha. Because you know that is how River is sometimes. Lol River would just make that classic little sister face and then yes on the training her to fly serenity and he can find her aptitude for numbers unnerving haha.

I think he'd try to start thinking in other languages. Random thought, but still xD *still wants one more cool language for him to know but can't pick* Or she can be devious and play along with it - scaring Mal half to death. Really, she's bad for his heart.

But I think that a 'training thread' might be fun. perhaps she's even spent too much time around Kaylee and Wash already so the moment Mal relaxes a little she'll try a few rolls and loopings? xD

River would pick up most of those rather quickly especially the gaelic she already speaks russian, mandarin, cantonese, and slang. River would play along at first but then get bored and for her own amusement scare the hell out of him by responding to one of his thoughts.

She would do that to Mal let him get to the point where he is comfortable with her at the helm and then do some crazy trick that she knows she can pull off and scare him half to death or sense a reaver ship and get them out of there with some crazy ass move to get them away from them. River is good with the math and the numbers and the crazy flying she could probably find the instructions for in Wash's brain somewhere haha.
