Jayne Cobb
AGE: 38
GENDER: Male
NICKNAMES: Hero of Canton
MEMBER GROUP: Serenity Crew
BRIEF HISTORY: Jayne first met Mal and Zoe when the gang he was involved with at the time attempted to rob them. After a brief conversation, Mal convinced Jayne to join the Serenity crew, and abandon his former gang.
Prior to this, Jayne had been pulling random jobs along the frontier. One such job led to him being hailed as the Hero of Canton, the small mudder town that he was forced to drop his freshly pilfered loot on to escape.
He has since been a mostly loyal member of the Serenity crew.
FACE CLAIM:. Adam Baldwin
EYE COLOR: Dark Ocean-Blue
HAIR COLOR: Dark Reddish-Brown
OTHER FEATURES: He has one tattoo on the upper left arm. It is a red dragon and yin yang symbol with the capital letters M and A. Occasionally wears an orange knit cap with ear flaps and a pom pom, sent to him by his mother.
GENERAL: A Mercenary to the core, he is loyal to the person paying his way. Until he gets a better offer. Good in a fight, he has a finely tuned danger sense, often seeing/sensing trouble before the rest of the crew. He often acts on instinct, doing things before thinking through the consequences. Occasionally cruel, he is not above picking at the sorest spot in the person he is arguing with.
Normally a calm cold individual, he has been seen to show fear at the mention of Reapers, the thought of dying in an unmanly manner, and River Tam. He also has a caring sensitive side, mainly directed toward his family, a mother and sick younger sibling that he sends a portion of his pay to at every opportunity. He has a very tactile personality, and likes to touch, taste, and smell things. He is slightly religious, or at least has a respect for people that lean that way.
He has several weapons, to which he appears to be more connected to than his crew members on occasion. His favorites are a Callahan full-bore auto lock with a customized trigger, double cartridge thorough gauge, named Vera, and a LeMat Percussion Revolver.
WEAKNESSES:
A lack of (a normal level of) fear, and a tendency to act first and ask questions later.
A mercenaries shifting loyalty scale means that he can be bought, for the right price.
A simple man with a tendancy to form more of an emotional connection with his weapons than with the people around him.
STRENGTHS:
A lack of ( a normal level of) fear, and a tendency to act first and ask questions later. (I know, I'm cheating)
Well versed in, and more than willing to use, several varieties of weapons at a moments notice.
A sense of honor that demands he makes good when he breaches a contract, or his own personal code.
The Death of Sariel
An Excerpt from The Fall of Sammael
An Excerpt from The Fall of Sammael
The war had started with whispers in backrooms, and was ending with screams in the streets. The Angels had begun their rebellion mere hours ago, but to most it felt like days. To think that their brothers would attempt to usurp their Father was beyond the comprehension of most of the Host.
Sammael had been one of the first that Lucifer had approached with his proposal, and in the moment, it had seemed like a great idea. He had been created to ensure that the Earth was the sole planet in the universe capable of sustaining life. This had for the most part kept him from his brothers, and he had felt slighted from the outset, when he realized his purpose was to kill things that had never really even noticed that they were alive to begin with.
There was no shock or look of despair on the face of his victims. Most of them didn’t even have faces. He had spent thousands of years cleaning up bacterial cultures on remote planets, and keeping them from mutating into sentience. It was a job, but when compared to that of Azrael, it was more like a slap in the face. So when Lucifer had approached him he had jumped at the chance to elevate himself above his station.
Sammael had been crisscrossing the city for nearly the whole battle, killing anyone that had crossed his path, searching for Azrael. What better way to take his job, than to kill him? Sure, once Lucifer was on the Throne of Glory, he could remove Azrael from the position and place Sammael into it, but if one really thought about it, what incentive did Lucifer have to keep his word? He was already leading a war against his Father and brothers that he was created to protect. His word was apparently worth as much as the air that gave it form. That is to say, not much.
A war cry from below dragged him from his contemplation and brought him back into the moment. He headed toward the sound, and found that a large crowd of Lucifer’s supporters had surrounded the angel Sariel, and a small group of his companions. They were doing their best, but Sariel and his cadre were among the angels that had been created to defend the Silver City, and as such were among the best combatants that had ever graced the plains of Heaven.
